Presented is a wonderful English sterling silver small round tray from 1823. This piece displays an elegant gadroon edge and three fancy cast and applied feet. The center of the tray has a large crest. The base of the crest reads “Virtute, non verbis” which is the heraldic motto for the Robinson family.
The underside is marked with full English hallmarks: The lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for London, the duty mark of King George IV's head, and the date letter H representing 1823. There is also a maker's mark for Robert Hennell II.
This piece is in great overall condition. The crest is worn but the motto is still readable. There are no breaks and no repairs.
