Presented is a nice pair of American coin silver sugar tongs made by Merriman & Bradley of New Haven, Connecticut. This firm was active around the first quarter of the 1800s. The tongs have a simple smooth finish design with a T monogram at the top.
The tongs are stamped on the inside of one of the arms with an eagle, an M and a sheaf of wheat for Merriman & Bradley. Tested and guaranteed to be 900 purity coin silver.
The condition is excellent. The tongs have surface wear commensurate with age and light use, but this is extremely minor. There is a tiny split near the end of the tongs, but everything still works perfectly. There are no dents, no breaks, and no repairs.
The tongs are 6 1/8 inches long.
