1816 Antique English Georgian Sterling Silver Engraved Sugar Tongs
Regular price
$141.12
Presented is a nice pair of English Georgian sterling silver sugar tongs made by Thomas Wallis II and Jonathan Hayne of London. The tongs are elegantly engraved with swags of flowers surrounding the old original monogram of O over the letters W and E. This was usually to symbolize a marriage with the two first name initials below the newly joined last name initial.
The tongs are hallmarked on the inside of the arms with the lion passant for sterling silver, the date letter “a” for 1816, George III’s head, and a maker’s mark of TW over JH for Thomas Wallis and Jonathan Hayne.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The sugar tongs are 5 1/2 inches long.
The weight is 30.7 grams or 1.1 ounces.
