1810 Fine English Georgian Sterling Silver Vinaigrette by Matthew Linwood
This piece is in great condition. The hinge of the box is in great shape, and the lid closes smoothly. The gold wash of the interior is in great shape. The box has what we believe is its original cotton inside, still with a faint sweet smell. The lid of the box has a circular patch of applied silver covering a monogram. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, and no repairs.
The lid of the box is stamped on the interior with King George III's head duty mark, the maker's mark ML for Matthew Linwood, and the lion passant for sterling silver. On the interior of the box is stamped the anchor for the city of Birmingham, the maker's mark ML for Matthew Linwood, and the date letter m for 1810.
The box measures about 1 3/4 by 1 3/8 by 3/8 of an inch, LxWxH.
