Presented is an antique, sterling silver dish made by Richard Grove of London in 1803. The dish is a heavy weight for its size. This piece is in a classically Georgian form, with a gadrooned rim. One side of the dish has a high quality crest of the letter K surrounded by a buckle. The engraving is very crisp.

The side is marked with the crowned leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of King George III’s head, a date letter H for 1803 and a maker’s mark RG for Richard Grove.

This piece is in great overall condition, especially for its age. There are a couple of small dings on one corner, but they are hardly noticeable. There is wear to the bottom of the piece commensurate with age and use, including old knife marks. Undoubtedly at one time there was a lid for this piece. This dish is perfectly functional just as it is and a lid is not necessary . There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The dish measures 8 1/4 by 11 inches and weighs 737 grams or 26 ounces.
