Presented is a fine pair of English Georgian sterling silver sugar tongs made by Thomas Wallis II of London. The tongs are nicely made with elegant bright cut engraving on the arms and fluting on the tips. There is an open cartouche at the top of the handle which has not been monogrammed or engraved.
The tongs are hallmarked on the inside of the arms with the lion passant for sterling silver, the duty mark of King George III’s head, the date letter ‘E’ for 1800, and a maker’s mark of TW for Thomas Wallis II.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
The tongs are 5 3/4 inches long.
