Presented is a very nice old Georgian sterling silver table spoon or serving spoon. The spoon was made with drop construction in the Old English pattern, which is very similar to the Hanovarian pattern. The spoon was made in 1797 in Exeter. The spoon has never been monogrammed.

The spoon is marked on the reverse with the lion passant for sterling silver, the castle for Exeter, the duty mark of King George III's head, the date letter A for 1797, and the maker's mark JH or JK in cursive, possibly James Hyde, Jeremiah King, we are not sure.

The condition is excellent. There is surface wear commensurate with age and light use, but this is minor and not very noticeable. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The spoon measures approximately 8 3/4 inches long.

The spoon weighs 72.4 grams.
