Presented is a fabulous English Georgian sterling silver fish slice or fish server. This piece dates to 1790 and was made by Henry Chawner. The blade of the server has beautiful bright cut engraving and a floral design. The handle is wonderfully carved from rich mellow oxbone, with natural graining and crosshatching visible. The server has a marriage style monogram of N above B*W, with the year 1791 on the back.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter q for 1790, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Henry Chawner.
This piece is in great condition. The handle is securely mounted to the silver. There are no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
