Presented is a very nice antique Dutch tray made in Amsterdam in 1752. The tray is designed in a cut corner square shape with nice threading on the rim, and shell and scrollwork on the corners. The tray stands on four legs, but these are possibly added at a later date. The legs certainly might be original. The legs were added to the tray in a way that, if you wanted to remove the legs, the process will not harm the tray. The legs do look nice, and fit the tray's pattern well.
The tray is marked on the underside with the Amsterdam city marks, the date letter S for 1752, and the maker's mark. The tray is also marked on the underside with a fish mark for a later Dutch tax mark from the 19th century, and a French import mark to the top of the tray.
The condition is excellent. The decorations are sharp and crisp. The legs are sturdy. There are holes in the rim of the underside of the tray just in front of the legs, which are airholes used in the making.
The tray measures approximately 11 1/2 x 11 1/2 inches and about 1 inch tall.
The tray weighs 24.52 ounces or 695.1 grams.
