1744 Ornate English George II Sterling Silver Caster Hand Chased Flowers
Regular price
$804.00
Presented is an ornate English sterling silver caster from 1744. This piece is a good size and displays a classical form with hand chased flowers and scrolls around the neck and widest point of the body. The round foot has a fluted and ruffled design, and the lid is quite intricately pierced in spiral panels of alternating shapes.
The underside is marked with a full set of English hallmarks: the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for London, the date letter I representing 1744, and the maker's mark for Peter Archambo I.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is likely a monogram removal to the cartouche on the neck, just under the lid. The interior is clean and the lid slides on/off easily. We couldn't find any dents. There are no breaks and no repairs.
Measurements: 3 inches in diameter at the widest point, and 6 3/4 inches tall
Weight: 247 grams or 8.7 ounces -kc
