Presented is a fine quality set of 16 German silver pastry or dessert forks. The forks are done in two slightly different patterns. Ten of the forks have a pair of large scrolls and a shell flourish at the top. These forks are monogrammed SS. The other six forks have two smaller scrolls on the sides and a different type of flourish at the top. They are monogrammed LN. Both patterns are classic German or continental European designs with elegant flowers, scrolls, and leaves on both sides of the handles. As you can see in the photos, the two patterns are quite similar.
The forks are all marked 800 on the reverse for the silver purity. The ten forks with the SS monogram have a maker’s mark of MG, and the six forks with the LN monogram have a maker’s mark of SE.
The condition is excellent. The forks have some surface wear commensurate with age and light use, but this is minor. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The ten forks with the SS monogram are 5 3/4 inches long. The six forks with the LN monogram are 5 5/8 inches long.
The weight is 404.5 grams or 14.2 ounces.
