Presented is a very nice 14K white gold hardstone cameo pin or pendant. The stone is a deep black with an applied, carved white cameo. The cameo depicts two women in profile. They look like sisters. The cameo is set in a wonderful, white gold filigree setting. The pin did have a hinged bale at one point to allow the pin to be worn as a pendant, but the loop itself is missing. A jeweler can easily replace the loop to allow the pin to be worn. The carving was likely done in Italy, and the gold setting was likely done in America, around the 1920s.
The pin is marked 14k on the clasp. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14K gold.
The condition is excellent. There are dark lines in the women's necks which are not cracks, but part of the naturally occurring striation in the white stone. As we mentioned earlier, the loop in the back is missing, but can easily be replaced so that the piece can be worn as a pendant. There are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The pin measures approximately 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 inches.
The weight is 10.2 grams.
