Presented is a heavy set of 13 American coin silver salad, dessert or lunch forks made by Ball, Black & Company during the mid 19th century. This set is done in a variant of the classic Olive pattern. 12 of the forks have an S monogram and the 13th fork has a monogram of the initials PH. The 13th fork is more of a bonus to the full set of 12 forks.

The back of 12 handles are marked for Ball, Black & Co. 1 handle is marked for Palmer & Bachelders as well as patent 1846. All of the forks were made in the 1840s through the 1850s.

This set is in excellent overall condition for its age and the designs are crisp. The tip of one of the fork handles has a small damage, but this is only noticeable upon close inspection.
