Presented is a set of 12 sterling silver dinner sized knives made by Wallace. This set is in the Carnation pattern, which was patented in 1888. Each thick handle has lovely cast floral decorations and all of the knives have a monogram of the letter A. We believe the blades were originally silver plated carbon steel and have been replaced with stainless steel blades but if they have been replaced it is hard to tell because of the quality of the work is as good as any blade replacements I have ever seen. One of the blades, marked Sheffield stainless, is about 1/4 of an inch longer than the others but it is only noticeable when all of the knives are laid out together.

Each handle is marked sterling and each blade is marked stainless. This set is in excellent overall condition. There are a few very minor dings to the tips of the handles but they are hardly noticeable. There are no other dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs other than the new blades.

11 of the knives measure 9 3/8 inches long. One knife, as mentioned above, measures 9 5/8 inches.
