12 Gorham Sterling Silver Buttercup 1908 True Dinner Forks 7 1/2"
Regular price
$1,144.80
Presented is a superb set of 12 Gorham sterling silver dinner forks. These forks are made in the popular Buttercup pattern, which began production in 1900. As the name suggests, this is a timeless floral pattern, with buttercups adorning the handles in detailed relief. The forks are a true dinner size, 7 1/2 inches in length, not the place size that other sellers erroneously call dinner in their listings. Each fork has a monogram of HSD on the handle in elegant script.
This set is in great condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. There are only the most minor of knife marks to the backs of the tine, nothing noticeable or significant. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each fork is stamped with the Gorham maker's mark, sterling silver, the patent date of 1900, and a Gorham year cipher in the shape of a compass for 1908. There is also a retail mark for Shreve, Crump & Low Co.
Each fork is about 7 1/2 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 743 grams or 26.2 regular ounces. -jm
