Half of the set was made in 1815 and the other half was made in 1822 to match. This set is done in the classical Fiddle Shell and Thread pattern. Each spoon has raised shell designs on the front and back of its handle and on the back of its bowl. The front of each handle has an interesting, hand engraved crest of a tree stump and branch .
All twelve spoons are marked with the leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of King George III’s or George IV’s head and a maker’s mark for William Eley and William Fearn. Six of the spoons have a date letter U for the year 1815 and six have a date letter g for the year 1822.
This set is in excellent overall condition. There is minor wear commensurate with age and light use. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.
Each spoon measures 7 inches long and the combined weight of the set is 676.7 grams or 23.9 ounces.
