Presented is a wonderful set of 11 antique sterling silver dinner forks made by Knowles & Ladd of Providence, Rhode Island. The forks are done in the Crete pattern. This pattern is extremely similar to Gorham’s Pompeii pattern which was first produced in 1868 and the Crete pattern was undoubtedly patented within a few years of that date. Each fork is monogrammed with an N in Gothic script.
The forks are marked on the reverse with K & L for Knowles & Ladd, Sterling, and N. F. Baldwin for the retailer.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
