Presented is a fabulous set of 10 Portuguese silver place, dessert, or soup spoons. These spoons date to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The spoons have a classical design, with decoratively ribbed handles. Each of the spoons is monogrammed with AT in elegant script. These are well made silver pieces with a nice feeling of weight in the hand.
Each of the spoons is hallmarked on the stem with a Portuguese large article guarantee for the city of Oporto, guaranteeing 833 purity. This seated boar mark was used between 1886-1938. The spoons also have a mark that looks like a pitcher, which we do not recognize, possibly a maker's mark.
The spoons are in great overall condition. As the photo points out, one of the spoons has an old solder repair on the handle. This repair was done quite well, and is hard to notice without close inspection. The designs are nice and crisp. There are no dents, no splits, no monogram removals, and no other repairs.
Each spoon is about 7 1/8 inches long.
The total weight is 506 grams or 17.9 regular ounces.
