Vintage Indian Mughal 22k Gold Polki ~3ct Diamond Meenakari Enamel Bracelet
Presented is a superb 22 karat gold, diamond, and enamel bracelet. This piece
was made in India, in a very traditional Mughal style. Considering that this
style of jewelry has been popular for well over a century, we aren't sure of the
age of this piece; it might be from the 1880s, or it could be a 20th century
piece. Whatever the case, it is truly exceptional in terms of material and
craftsmanship. The bracelet is a hinged wide bangle or cuff style, done in an
openwork design. The exterior is set with 92 polki style diamonds, totaling at
least 3 carats of diamond weight, quite possibly more. Considering the very old
style of the cut and the distinctive shapes of the diamonds, it's difficult to
be more exact. The interior of the bracelet is strikingly decorated with classic
meenakari enamel in opaque white and translucent green and red, with small
accents in a rich shade of blue. Even the sides of the bracelet feature a fine
design in vibrant green enamel. The bracelet closes with a threaded pin/screw
type mechanism, which is set with a ruby.
the piece with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least 22 karat gold.
The bracelet is in great overall condition. The diamonds are all intact.
There are some very minor losses to the enamel, namely the green enamel around
the side and the thin blue enamel around the edge of the inside, but nothing
that is easy to notice without close, careful inspection. The clasp functions
well and closes securely.
The bracelet will fit a wrist of about 7 inches in circumference. The band of
the bracelet is about 5/8 of an inch wide.
The bracelet weighs 54.6 grams or 1.9 regular ounces.
