Vintage Indian 22k Gold Polki ~2.5ct Diamond Meenakari Enamel Wedding Pendant
Presented is a superb 22 karat gold, diamond, and enamel pendant. This piece was
made in India, in a very traditional Mughal style. Considering that this style
of jewelry has been popular for well over a century, we aren't sure of the age
of this piece; it might be from the 1880s, or it could be a 20th century piece.
Whatever the case, it is truly exceptional in terms of material and
craftsmanship. The pendant is set with 40 diamonds in the natural polki style,
totaling at least 2.5-3 carats of diamond weight, quite possibly more.
Considering the very old style of the cut and the distinctive shapes of the
diamonds, it's difficult to be more exact. The reverse of the pendant is
strikingly decorated with classic meenakari, in opaque white and translucent
green and red, with vivid blue accents. Even the sides of the pendant feature
vibrant green enamel decoration. The pendant has a good size loop/bail at the
top, so it will accommodate a wide variety of chain sizes and styles.
acid and guarantee it to be at least 22 karat gold.
The pendant is in great condition. The diamonds are all intact. The enamel on
the reverse is in good shape, with no obvious or major losses, just some very
minor wear to the enamel around the edge which is quite hard to notice.
The pendant is about 2 3/4 inches long, including the loop/bail at the top,
and about 2 inches wide.
This piece weighs 42.6 grams or 1.5 regular ounces.
