Presented is a wonderful Victorian 18K gold brooch topped with 7 pieces of carved striated agate. The pin is very well made. The pin still has the old original clasp on the reverse. The clasp has an interesting spring form design. I have very rarely seen a clasp done this way. It holds the pin stem very securely. This piece was made around 1865 to 1885.
The pin is marked on the reverse with a maker’s mark of W & B. It was probably made in England, or possibly America. We have tested the pin with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 18K gold.
The condition is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The pin measures 1 1/4 inches in diameter.
The weight is 13 grams.
