Presented is an interesting amethyst and aquamarine pendant, in 14 karat yellow
gold. This is a fairly modern piece of jewelry, and we believe it may be
Brazilian in origin. The pendant consists of a slab of natural amethyst geode,
with all its sparkling crystal points, in a artistic, flowing yellow gold
mounting. Set in the gold are 8 round faceted aquamarines. These are real,
mined-from-the-ground aquamarines, each measuring about 12-15 points each in
size. The aquamarines are lovely light blue, which really pops against the
purple amethyst and rich yellow gold. The pendant has a good size bail or loop
at the top, so it will accommodate a good size chain or cord, possibly even a
strand of beads or pearls if they are significantly smaller than 4.5 millimeters
in diameter.
The pendant is in great condition. The amethyst is securely affixed to the
gold, and the aquamarines are securely set. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The pendant is stamped on the bail with 14k and a maker's mark, which we
unfortunately do not recognize.
The pendant measures about 3 1/4 inches from top to bottom, including the
bail, and measures about 1 3/4 inches across.
The pendant weighs 36.1 grams.
