Striking Indo-Persian Paisley 18k Gold Ruby & Gemstone Pendant

Offered in this sale is an attractive 18K yellow gold pendant of either Indian or Persian origin of a classic paisley leaf form, set with a variety of colored stones and with a "fringe" of wire set beads. The central flower in the design is set with green stones in the petals around a central synthetic blue stone. I do not believe the green stones to be emeralds. The suspension bale is set with small coral cabochons and an emerald, and there are four other coral cabochons in the leaf itself. Six rubies are set around the perimeter of the leaf, and there is a single turquoise set in the very tip. A fringe of amethyst and green glass beads adorns the lower edge of the leaf. This mixture of genuine stones combined with imitations is not unusual in Indian and middle Eastern jewelry, where the point was color rather than content. The setting is finely made with the "carved" surfaces typical of jewelry of this type, that catch the light beautifully.

Marks: The back of the leaf stamped 750 (18K) and with an Arabic looking hallmark. Everything tested and guaranteed to be a minimum of 18 kt. gold.

The weight is 16 grams. Quite solid, over 1/2 ounce.

Dimensions: Overall length including the bale and fringe is 2 7/8 inches.

Condition: Excellent, with no breaks or repairs of any kind.
