Presented is a fabulous sterling silver and amber necklace. This is a relatively modern piece, though we do not know where it was made. The focal point of the necklace is a large pendant portion consisting of three individual pieces, each prong set with a large piece of amber. The amber pieces are very minimally polished and in their natural irregular shapes, with the sterling silver settings custom made to fit. The pendant portion is permanently attached to a necklace consisting of 5 silver wires, ending in a simple hook style clasp. The necklace is quite striking with its large amber pieces and artistic design. The amber is real, tested in an unobtrusive location with a hotpoint burn test.
This piece is stamped on the back with 925 for sterling silver. The MG marking stands for Mariusz Gliwinski, whose Amber Moda collection of modern amber jewelry makes him one of Poland’s most prestigious designers.
This piece is in excellent condition. The amber is securely mounted, with no chips. There are no breaks, and no repairs.
The pendant portion measures about 5 inches long and is about 2 1/2 inches wide at the widest point. The necklace itself is hard to measure in length, without bending the wires out of round, but it's a good size and should fit most necks.
This necklace weighs 116.4 grams.
