Presented is an interesting sterling silver and brass plate commemorating the Athens International Symposium on Water, 22-23 October 2009. The plate is made by renowned Greek maker Lalaounis. The plate is brass with sterling silver in the center, with a design of a 'water bearer' figure from the waist up, depicted in an appealingly stylized form.
The silver portion is stamped with the Ilias Lalaounis maker's mark, A21, and 925 for sterling silver. The brass is also stamped Ilias Lalaounis and what looks like 52x.79. This piece is in great condition. The underside of the brass has a some patina and has not been polished. No breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The dish is about 6 3/8 inches in diameter. The dish weighs 139 grams or 4.9 ounces.-jm
