Nice c1790s Old Connecticut American Coin Silver Serving Table Spoon
Presented is a fantastic old American coin silver serving or table spoon, dating
to around the 1790s. The spoon was made by David Greenleaf Jr, a Connecticut
silversmith. The spoon is well made, with a rounded terminal to the handle and
arrow shaped drop to the back of the bowl. The front of the handle has a
marriage monogram of S * H beneath P, in particularly finely engraved block
lettering with a foliate flourish between.
Jr, a Connecticut silversmith operating out of Hartford 1788-1804.
This piece is in great overall condition, particularly considering the age.
There is a little wear to the tip of the bowl, and an old nick to the terminal
of the handle. Some abrasions, particularly inside the bowl. Please view the
photos carefully. No splits, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Engraving is
nice and crisp.
The spoon is about 8 7/8 inches long.
The spoon weighs 52.5 grams.
