Meissen Porcelain Swan Service Indian Flower Branch Tea Cup and Saucer

Regular price $540.00 $0.00 Unit price per
Presented is a wonderful quality porcelain tea cup and matching saucer made by Meissen of Germany. This contemporary set is done in the Swan Service pattern, also referred to as the Indian Flower Branch pattern by some. This pattern has a serial number of 397152. The center of each saucer/dish and the outside of each cup has embossed or relief swans, flying crane/ phoenix and marsh grass or reeds decoration and the rims are painted with flowers and golden bands of decoration. The handle is done in an ornate, exotic fish form.

From Meissen's website:
The 'Swan Service' was first created by Meissen between 1737 and 1742, and consisted of over 2,200 parts, which Johann Joachim Kaendler, Johann Fridrich Eberlein and Johann Gottlieb Ehder designed.

The Meissen factory restarted production of this pattern, perhaps as early as the late 1980's. I am not exactly sure when Meissen started to make this pattern again. I know this pattern was being made since at least 2002, but I believe Meissen revived production of this Swan Service pattern in the late 1980's or early 1990's. If anybody has exact information when Meissen begain reviving production of the pattern please let me know.

The underside of each piece bears the Meissen crossed swords hallmark. There are no cancel marks.

We have recently purchased a small service in this pattern by Meissen. We have multiples of most pieces and many serving pieces.

This set is in mint condition. I do not think that it was ever used.

The cup measures 3 1/4 inches in diameter and is 2 1/8 inches tall.

The saucer measures 6 inches in diameter.
