late 1800s/early 1900s Silver Knotwork & Hand Carved Jade Bird Bracelet
Presented is a fabulous antique silver and jade bracelet. This piece dates to the late 1800s or first quarter of the 1900s. The bracelet consists of silver links in the form of traditional Chinese auspicious knotwork, with a finely carved medallion of rich green jade for a focal point. The jade is almost certainly jadeite jade, according to analysis by our gemologist. The jade is carved in the design of a stylized bird, and the back of the setting is finely engraved with Chinese characters. The bracelet has a box style clasp, likewise set with jade, for an extra touch of class. The clasp has a safety chain, for additional security.
The bracelet will fit a wrist of about 7 inches in circumference, though it opens wider than that and can pass over the hand easily due to the safety chain.
The bracelet weighs 26 grams, or just shy of one regular ounce.
