Presented is a charming silver miniature violin. This is a German piece, dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The body of the violin is beautifully hand chased with little scenes, a cherub playing a horn on the front and a courting scene on the back. The scenes are quite detailed and well done, especially considering the small size. The violin itself is realistically made, with open sounding holes on the body and silver wire 'strings' that are attached to individually made tuning keys.

This piece is in good overall condition. The details of the scene are nice and crisp. One of the violin's "strings" has been broken from its tuning key, but the wire is still attached at the other end. Otherwise there are no breaks, no dents, and no repairs.

The piece is stamped with Hanau German marks as well as 800 for the purity of the silver.

The violin is about 3 5/8 inches long.

The violin weighs 19 grams.
