Large Size Hand Painted Portrait of a Young Woman in 14k Gold Brooch/Pendant
Presented is a fabulous hand painted portrait brooch/pendant. The portrait
dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s, while the gold frame is more modern. The
portrait is very well done, showing a lovely young woman in a head scarf, with a
gold cross necklace. The portrait is quite expressive and detailed. The portrait
is set in a 14 karat gold frame, with a retractable bail so it can be worn as a
pendant. The back of the portrait has a sticker labeled what looks like '68.10',
'Orp. 15', and 'Burgerfrau.'
This piece is in great condition. The portrait is in great shape. The bail
functions well. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The pendant is stamped 'Leon' and 14k on the plaque where the bail attaches
in the back as well as on the frame itself. Remnants of the same marks are
visible on the bail itself.
The portrait measures about 3 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches.
The weight of just the gold frame, not including the portrait itself, is 11.4
grams. This weight does not include the gold bail. The total weight of the
entire piece is 68.8 grams.
