Intriguing c1910-1930 14k Gold & Nephrite Jade Scarab Stick Pin
Presented is a fantastic quality 14 karat gold scarab stick pin. This piece is probably of American make, and dates to around 1910-1930. The scarab is carved from dark green stone or glass. Our gemologist has tested the scarab and it has the right refractive index for nephrite jade, though it could also be glass. However the scarab has no flow lines or internal bubbles as would be typical for glass, which strongly suggests it is nephrite jade. Whatever the case, the carving is really high quality work, better than average for scarab themed pieces. The gold setting has a reeded edge, similar to the edge of a coin. The pin weighs 3.1 grams without the clutch back/stopper. With the back, it weighs 3.5 grams.
This piece is 14 karat gold, nitric acid tested and guaranteed.
The pin is in great condition. The scarab stone is well set and has no chips or cracks. The gold has no breaks and no repairs.
The stickpin is about 2 7/8 inches long.
The pin weighs 3.1 grams without the clutch back/stopper. With the back, it weighs 3.5 grams.
