Gorgeous Victorian Etruscan Revival 14k Yellow Gold Milgrain Bar Pin

Presented is an elegant old 14k yellow gold Victorian era bar pin. This pin was made during the Etruscan Revival period of the 1860s-80s. The Etruscan Revival figured heavily in the Victorian aesthetic and much of it can be found in the jewelry of the period. This piece is decorated with fine hand done millgrain work which was achieved with the careful application of very fine wire to the flat gold surface. The entire finished piece was washed with a high carat gold finish. This piece is actually made in a rose colored gold, but has a deep yellow high karat gold wash.

The pin, as is the case with a lot of Victorian jewelry, is not hallmarked. This is not at all uncommon. We have tested the pin with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14k gold. The overall condition is good, though there has been a repair to the piece( visible in the last photograph). The tip at one end of the pin broke off at one point and was soldered back on in a professional repair. The only giveaway to this repair is that the gold is colored slightly differently and the solder is slightly visible. The other end of the pin is also slightly bent, but this is easily overlooked. Otherwise the pin is in great condition and there are no cracks, no breaks, no other repairs, and no problems of any kind.

The pin is 3 inches long. The pin weighs 8.2 grams.
