French c1870 18k Gold Diamond Black Enamel Locket Pendant w Fleur de Lis Design
Presented is a fabulous 18 karat gold, diamond, and black enamel locket pendant.
This piece dates to around the 1860s-1870s, and is of French make. The locket
itself is oval, covered in black enamel on both sides. One side has a fleur de
lis type of design, set with 24 rose cut diamonds of varying size. The opposite
side of the locket has an ornate quatrefoil design in gold against the black
enamel, very richly detailed and distinctive. The interior of the locket has no
glass or bezel, but could still hold a photo with a little adhesive, or a locket
of hair, etc. The locket is attached to a little length of chain, with two black
enamel quatrefoils, each set with a rose cut diamond.
and no losses. The engraved designs are nice and crisp. The locket snaps shut
securely. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The loop attached to the top of the locket is stamped with a French eagle's
head hallmark guaranteeing 18 karat gold. We have tested this piece with nitric
acid and guarantee all parts to be 18 karat gold.
This piece is about 2 5/8 inches long.
