Fine Towle Sterling Silver Engraved Bell Flowers Low Footed Bowl

Presented is a nice sterling silver footed serving bowl made by Towle Silversmiths. The exterior is beautifully engraved with swags of bell flowers and leaves below the rim. The front of the bowl is engraved with the monogram MHL inside a cut corner rectangular cartouche. The other side of the bowl has an open cartouche that has never been monogrammed or engraved.
The bowl is marked on the underside with the maker’s mark for Towle, Sterling, and 5229. This piece was undoubtedly made in the early 1900s, probably the first quarter of the 1900s.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The bowl measures 7 5/8 inches in diameter at the rim and 2 7/8 inches tall.
The weight is 318.7 grams or 11.2 ounces.
