Fine Set 12 1898 Antique Russian Gilt Silver Red Caviar Dessert Coffee Spoons

Presented is a striking set of 12 antique Russian gilt silver spoons, dating to 1898. The spoons are made in a classically Russian form, with a paneled, geometric shape to the handles, onion dome style terminals, and wide round bowls. The reverse of the bowl of each spoon is decorated in red, and finely engraved with an intricate two letter monogram.
Each spoon is stamped with the Russian 84 zolotnik mark for 875 purity silver, as well as the city mark for Moscow, an assay date of 1898 beneath the assayer's initials for Anatoly Apollonovich Artsybashev and a maker's mark.
This set of spoons is in good overall condition. As the photos show, there is significant wear to the red paint on the reverse of the bowls. The gold wash however is in great shape, and the silver itself has no dents, monogram removals, or any other damage.
Each spoon measures about 5 1/2 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 259 grams or 9.1 regular ounces. -jm
