Fabulous American Brilliant Period ABP Cut Glass 8" Fruit Centerpiece Bowl
Regular price
$203.00
Presented is a lovely American Brilliant Period cut glass bowl. The bowl is beautifully cut with profuse decoration in the form of hobstars, strawberry cut, fans and other dazzling designs, all extremely crisp and well done. The glass is thick and heavy, of excellent quality. This is a good size bowl for use as a centerpiece or fruit type bowl, with high sides and a toothed, wavy rim, though it is nice enough to display on its own.
This piece is not signed, as is common with American Brilliant pieces, but the quality and intricacy of the decoration suggest a well known, high end maker like Hawkes, Tuthill, Dorflinger, etc.
This piece is in great overall condition. The top rim is in great shape, with only the most minor nicks/flea bites here and there, but nothing noticeable without close, careful inspection. The seventh photograph points out a small conchoidal chip and a little fretting to a 'ridge' of decoration, as an example, with a couple of other spots of similar levels of damage here and there around the exterior. One tooth around the rim is bruised, but there is no significant, easily visible loss to any of the teeth. No sickness or clouding to the glass.
The dish measures about 8 inches in diameter and stands about 3 3/4 inches tall at the rim. -jm
