Exquisite Victorian Etruscan Revival 14k Gold Locket Pendant

Presented is a fabulous Victorian 14 karat gold locket. This piece dates to around 1865-1885 and is probably American. The locket is done  very much in the Etruscan Revival style of the time period to which it dates, with intricate gold bead and wirework designs.

The locket is in fine shape, and all the beadwork and wirework is intact. The locket opens well and snaps shut securely. There is no glass or removable bezel inside, but clamshell plastic could be cut to fit under the lip of the space for a photo, or photos could be put in with a little adhesive. There's enough depth to the locket inside that a lock of hair or very small note or other memento could be put in, as well.

The locket is not stamped or hallmarked. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee the locket to be 14 karat gold.

The pendant is about 2 1/2 inches long including the bail/loop at the top, and about 1 1/8 inches wide.
