Presented is an old, American coin silver soup or punch ladle. This piece was probably made during the 1820s or 1830s and is in the classic fiddle pattern. There is a monogram of the initials IAD or JAD in beautiful old script.

The maker's mark on the reverse side of the handle has been scratched out, and another hallmark was double struck on either side. This hallmark was poorly struck and is not legible. No conclusive determination can be made about the maker although this might possibly be the mark of Weaver from Pennsylvania. This piece is definitely American. The type of hallmarks are certainly American along with the form of the ladle and the style of monogramming.

The condition of this ladle is very good, there is minor wear commensurate with age and use. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals, no repairs and no other problems of any kind.

The ladle measures 12 3/4 inches long and weighs 208 grams or 6.7 troy ounces.
