Charming Retro 1950s 14k Yellow Gold Ruby Pin / Brooch

Presented is a charming retro 14 karat gold and ruby pin or brooch. This is an American piece, dating to the 1950s. The pin is done in a sort of fan shape, alternating smooth gold with a rayed design. At the top are six square cut rubies. The topmost ruby and the second ruby up from the bottom, we believe to be lab-grown/synthetic rubies, likely replacements for the original stones. The rest of the rubies are real mined-from-the-ground stones. All the rubies are
well matched in their rich red color, very attractive with the yellow gold. The pin has a rollover style safety clasp.

The pin is in great overall condition. The clasp functions well and closes securely. Two of the rubies are lab-grown/synthetic replacements, but they match the original natural rubies perfectly.

The pin is stamped 14k on the back, but this stamp has almost completely worn away, so much so that it doesn't show up in the photos. We have tested the pin with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.

The pin is about 1 5/8 inches long and about 1 1/4 inches across.

The pin weighs 14.6 grams.
