Charming Norwegian 830 Silver Solje Spoon Brooch Pin
Regular price
$60.00
Presented is a nice Norwegian silver “solje” form pin or brooch. This is a traditional design of brooch featuring dangling 'spoons' or disks that catch the light, often gold or gilt. The word “Sølje” means “sunny” and the spoons are intended to reflect the sun. This is one of the most iconic Norwegian jewelry forms, an auspicious gift for a baby or worn by a bride for luck. The pin has a simple C style clasp.
This piece is hallmarked 830 S for the purity of the silver, which is the standard used by Norway. If there is another mark, I cannot make it out. This piece is in excellent condition. All the 'spoons' are intact and move well. The pin clasp is working well. The pin measures about 1 inch in diameter. This piece weighs 2.7 grams.
