Presented is an elegant sapphire and pearl 14K gold pin or brooch. The gold has a very pretty rose tint to it, contrasting beautifully with the rich blue sapphires. The brooch is in the form of a stylized fan or perhaps a peacock with his head tucked down. There are a total of 14 sapphires and 24 natural pearls. The largest sapphire at about the 12 o'clock position is about 25 points in size. The rest vary somewhat in size but average around 12 points apiece, we estimate there is about 1.7 carats of total sapphire weight. They are real, mined from the ground sapphires. This was made in India around 1910.
The pin is stamped on the bottom of the two 'feet', with 14k on one and India on the other. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14K gold.
The condition is excellent. The stones and pearls are securely set and in very good shape. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, and no repairs.
The pin measures 1 1/4 inches by 1 inch.
The weight is 6.3 grams.
