c1880-1900 Fab Egyptian Revival 14k Gold Faience? Pottery Scarab Beetle Stickpin
Regular price
$417.60
Presented is a wonderful 14 karat gold and Egyptian pottery scarab stickpin. This is an American piece, dating to around 1880-1900, although the pottery scarab is significantly older. We do not know the exact age of the scarab, but it is at least 200 years old and possibly much older. The scarab is nicely detailed, done in a blue-green and white color, like Egyptian faience, which it may be. The back of the scarab has interesting hieroglyphic designs. The scarab is both bezel set and drilled, with gold holding it in at the top and bottom, a custom made and very secure setting. The setting of the scarab is done in an elegant rope-twist design, with a spiral twist to the shaft as well.
This piece is in great condition. The scarab is well set, with no chips. There are no breaks and no repairs.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.
The pin is about 2 3/4 inches long.
This pin weighs 4.7 grams with the stopper back, or 4.4 grams for just the pin alone.
