c1875 Beautiful Victorian 14k Multi Colored Gold Platinum Pin / Brooch

Presented is a superb American Victorian 14 karat gold pin or brooch. This piece dates to around 1865-1885. The pin is done in yellow gold, with designs in rose and green gold as well as platinum. The center of the pin has a scene of a crane or other water bird in rose gold, with nearby plants in rose and green gold. The water the bird is standing in is platinum, as this piece was made before white gold was an option. On either side of the center plaque with the bird design is a cattail reed, with the tail in rose gold and leaves in green gold. All the background gold has a matte finish, to better make the designs stand out. The pin has an old capped C-style clasp, as well as a hook that could be used to hang the piece on a chain.

The pin is in great condition. The details of the designs are nice and sharp. There are no breaks and no repairs.

The pin is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.

The pin measures about 2 1/2 inches by 3/4 of an inch.

The pin weighs 11.1 grams.
