c1875 14k Multi Color Gold American Aesthetic Cattails Lilies Pin / Brooch

Presented is a wonderful 14 karat multi color gold pin or brooch. This is an American piece, dating to around 1875. The pin is done in the form of three medallions on a stem, with leaves and cattails. Each medallion is decorated with a water plant motif, the two on either side with a cattail and its leaves and the center with a water-lily and two lily-pads. The medallions are yellow gold, with the cattails done in rose gold and its leaves in green gold. The water-lily is done in what is likely platinum, considering the time period, with green gold for the leaves. All the plants are beautifully realistic, with fine texturing and hand engraved detailing. The pin has an old capped style safety clasp in the back.
