Regular price $240.00 $0.00 Unit price per

Presented is a fabulous Gorham coin silver pie server. This piece was made in the elegant Pompeii pattern, which began production in 1868. This particular piece is dated 1872, by the presentation on the back of the handle reading May 1, 1872 in Gothic script. The front of the handle has the name Sarah, in the same script. The blade of the server is beautifully engraved with a design of an elegant swan, surrounded by cattail reeds. The server comes in its original leathered case, lined with rich purple velvet. Although this is intended as a pie server, the design is suitable for a wide variety of serving purposes, so you can use it however you like.

This piece is in great condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.

The server is stamped coin for the purity of the silver as well as J. Gray, a retail mark. The maker is not indicated with a stamp, as is not uncommon for old coin pieces, but the pattern was made by Gorham and the server is undoubtedly a Gorham piece.

The server is about 9 1/8 inches long.

The server weighs 62.2 grams or 2.2 regular ounces.
