Presented is a fabulous American coin silver sardine or asparagus serving fork. This piece was made by James Watts and dates to around the 1860s. The fork is done in the Oval Shield pattern, featuring an oval cartouche surrounded by bright-cut engraved decoration on the terminal of the handle. Beneath that, along the handle, is a machine-turned design, of the type for which Watts is known. The fork has eight tines, all beautifully hand engraved, with lush scrollwork and foliate decoration above. The oval cartouche on the handle is engraved with the name 'Simons.'

This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

This piece is stamped "Coin" for 900 purity silver as well as the maker's mark for James Watts.

This piece is about 9 3/8 inches long.

This piece weighs 120 grams or 4.2 regular ounces.
