c1850-1900 Beautiful Victorian 14k Gold Pearl & Blue Enamel Star Locket Pendant
Presented is a lovely Victorian 14 karat gold, pearl and enamel locket pendant. This piece dates to the second half of the 1800s, and is likely of American make. The locket is oval in form, with a an eight-pointed star design in rich midnight blue enamel on the front. In the center of the star is a single
pearl, natural pearl. The edge of the locket has a finely hand engraved scroll and fan design. The interior of the locket has a bezel with glass on one side, and a plain bezel on the other. Both sides could be used with photos, or the glass side could display a lock of hair or a portrait, whatever the buyer likes.
The pendant has a large, sturdy bail, that will accommodate a wide variety of chain sizes and styles.
The locket is in great condition. The enamel has only the tiniest spot of loss, on the uppermost ray of the star, which is hard to notice without careful inspection. The pearl is well set and in good shape. The locket closes securely with an audible snap. The glass of the bezel is in good shape, with no chips and
no breaks. The engraved designs are nice and crisp.
The locket is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.
The locket is about 2 inches long by 1 1/8 inches.
The locket weighs 13.2 grams.
