Presented is a great antique Russian silver serving spoon by Johann Arndt from St. Petersburg. The spoon is done in a classic Hanovarian pattern with nice threading on the front and back. The spoon has some worn initials on the handle done in the style popular in the early to mid- 1800s. This spoon was made between 1803-1826.

The spoon is hallmarked on the reverse with the 84 mark for Russian 875 purity silver, the St. Petersburg city mark, the initials IHA for Johann Arndt who worked from 1803-1832 and the initials AY in Cyrillic letters for the assayer Alexander Yashinov, who worked in St. Petersburg from 1795-1826.

The condition is excellent. The spoon has surface wear commensurate with age and heavy use. . The back of the bowl has a small dimple, but this is very minor. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.

The spoon is 11 3/4 inches long.

The weight is 148.8 grams or 5.25 ounces.
