Antique 1902 English Birmingham Sterling Silver Round Desk Inkwell NO MONO
Presented is an antique, sterling silver inkwell made by S. Blanckensee & Son of Birmingham in 1902. This inkwell is done in a simple, classic form and has never been monogrammed. The underside has a wooden base and the inkwell needs a glass liner.
The base and lid are marked with the lion passant for sterling silver and a date letter C for the year 1902. The base is also marked with the anchor symbol for the city of Birmingham and a maker's mark for S Blanckensee & Son Ltd.
The inkwell is in good overall condition considering its old age. There are some dents to the base, as you can see in the photographs. The lid does not close tightly and there is no liner, but these can be fixed.
Diameter: 4 inches.
Height: 2 inches.
Weight: 175 grams or 6.1 ounces. The inkwell is weighted and has a wooden base underneath, so this is not all sterling silver weight.
