Antique 1800s Superb Gorham Sterling Silver Serving Dish Pot Side Handle Lid
Presented is a fabulous Gorham sterling silver handled serving dish, with lid. This piece dates to the late 1800s. The dish has a beautifully turned handle extending from the side. The dish has a beautifully chased clover and clover blossom motif around the rim, very detailed and in high relief. The lid is monogrammed ECB in elegant overlapping script. An interesting and very handsome serving piece.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are some dents to the underside of the rim, which are not noticeable from the top due to the chasing. There are a couple of minor dings here and there on the interior of the dish, which are really only noticeable because of the high mirror finish. There are no splits, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The underside of the piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the maker's mark for Gorham. Underneath are the letters EHX which likely indicate a custom order.
The dish measures about 19 1/2 from the end of the handle to the opposite side, and stands about 6 inches tall at the top of the lid's handle. The diameter of the dish, not including the handle, is about 12 1/2 inches.
This piece weighs 1476 grams or 52.1 regular ounces.
